  Georgia covers a territory of 69,700 km²
   and its population is almost 4.7 million. Georgia's constitution is
   that of a representative democracy, organized as a unitary,
   semi-presidential republic.
    The history of Georgia can be traced back to the ancient kingdoms of
   Colchis and Iberia. It was one of the first countries to adopt
   Christianity, in the early 4th century.
    19th century, Georgia was annexed by the Russian Empire.
    Georgia (Listeni /ˈdʒɔrdʒⁱə/) is a state located in the southeastern
   United States. Georgia was established in 1732, the last of the
   original Thirteen Colonies. It is named after King George II, of Great
   Britain.
  Georgia is known as the Peach State and the Empire State of
   the South. Atlanta is the capital and the most populous city.
    The highest point in Georgia is Brasstown Bald, 4,784 feet (1,458 m);
   the lowest point is sea level.
   With an area of 59,425 square miles (153,909 km2), Georgia is ranked
   24th in size among the 50 U.S. states.

   From a stately home on Peachtree Street to its current award-winning
   buildings in a spectacular setting, the High Museum of Art 
  Georgia was
   founded in 1732 by a group led by the British philanthropist James
   Oglethorpe and named for King George II. Atlanta is the capital and
   the largest city. Population: 9,540,000.
  Georgia is bordered by
   Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Alabama; the
   Atlantic Ocean lies to the southeast. Georgia is the largest state
   east of the Mississippi River.
  Georgia seceded from the Union in 1861, and the
   American Civil War was particularly hard on the state. It was the last
   former Confederate state to be readmitted to the Union in 1870.

    Georgia's recorded history dates back more than 2,500 years. Georgian,
   a South Caucasian (or "Kartvelian") language, unrelated to any outside
   the immediate region, is one of the oldest living languages in the
   world and has its own distinct alphabet.
    Mtkvari River valley, Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi, is more than 1,550
   years old. In the early 4th century, Georgia became the second nation
   in the world to officially adopt Christianity.

   by Persian, Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Mongol, and Turkish armies.

    Georgia is bordered by the Black Sea in the west, by Turkey and
   Armenia in the south, by Azerbaijan in the east, and Russia in the
   north. The republic also includes the Abkhazia and Ajara autonomous
   republics and South Ossetia.

   Hernando de Soto, the Spanish explorer, first traveled parts of
   Georgia in 1540. British claims later conflicted with those of Spain.
   After obtaining a royal charter, Gen.
    A Confederate stronghold, Georgia was the scene of extensive military
   action during the Civil War. Union general William T. Sherman burned
   Atlanta and destroyed a 60-mile-wide path to the coast, where he
   captured Savannah in 1864.
    Georgia leads the nation in the production of paper and board, tufted
   textile products, and processed chicken. Other major manufactured
   products are transportation equipment, food products, apparel, and
   chemicals.

    Georgia was the 4th state in the USA; it became a state on January 2,
   1788.
    Origin of the Name Georgia - Georgia was named to honor King George II
   of England.

   number of counties. With 159 existing counties, Georgia is second only
   to Texas in number of counties. The average number of counties per
   state in the United States is 62.8.
    Georgia 400 is the major highway through north Fulton, and Interstate
   85 to the southwest.
