Bhutan, is a small landlocked state in South Asia, located at the
eastern end of the Himalayas and bordered to the south, east and west
by the Republic of India and to the north by the People's Republic of
China.
Bhutan existed as a patchwork of minor warring fiefdoms until the
early 17th century, when the area was unified by the Shabdrung Ngawang
Namgyal, who was guided by a prophecy, fled religious
persecution in Tibet and cultivated a separate Bhutanese identity.
Bhutan is a small country in the Himalayas between the Tibet
Autonomous Region of China and India.
Bhutan is the only Vajrayana Buddhist nation in the world,
and the profound teachings of this tradition remain well preserved and
exert a strong influence in all aspects of life.
In terms of average wage, Bhutan is a poor country, however the land
is fertile and the population small, so the people are well fed, and
beggars and homeless are nonexistent, except for few.
Bhutan's early history is steeped in mythology and remains obscure. It
may have been inhabited as early as 2000 B.C., but not much was known
until the introduction of Tibetan Buddhism in the 9th century.

throughout its history, never conquered, occupied, or governed by an
outside power.

assumed by independent India after 1947.

veiled in legends but Buddhism was introduced there in the course of
the 7th century ce.
